Black Obsidian is a glassy luster rock that is formed from volcanic glass. This stone color is a completely solid black with few scratch mark dings from being mined.

Because of light-reflecting inclusions within the stone, obsidian may have a metallic sheen. Based on the color and sheen of this stone it has variations of rainbow obsidian, golden obsidian, and silver obsidian.

Obsidian is a volcanic rock that forms above the earth’s crust as molten rock cools. The end product is flawless, uniform volcanic glass. Ancient civilizations produced weapons for war as well as cutting tools for daily use. The precious stone was also used to make jewelry and ceremonial objects.
